A Pathway to Paid Employment Our Supported
Internship course supports young people with additional needs to gain real work experience, develop key employability skills, whilst developing the ability to progress into paid employment.


What Is a Supported Internship? 

A Supported Internship is a study programme for young people aged 16–24 with
an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Learning takes place mainly in the workplace, with tailored
support to help learners succeed.
This programme includes:

  • A substantial work placement
  • Classroom-based learning
  • Employability and life skills training
  • Support from a dedicated Job Coach


Who Is It For?

  • Young people with an Education, Health and Care
  • Plan (EHCP).
  •  Please note: this programme is open to learners aged 18–24 with SEND. Learners without an EHCP who do not hold English and maths qualifications
  • must be aged 19+.
  • Learners who have had some previous work experience and are now ready to progress into paid employment
  • Learners who benefit from structured, personalised to develop workplace skills

  • A clear route into employment or further training


Support Available

  • • One-to-one Job Coach support
  • • Individual learning plans
  • • Regular progress reviews
  • • Gradual reduction of support to build independence
