Work Experience Moves Up the National Agenda: Get Involved with EBP Connect

The Government has recently launched a new National Mission on Work Experience, calling on employers across the country to help create an additional 200,000 work experience placements for young people aged 14–16. The ambition is to give more young people meaningful exposure to the workplace, helping them build their confidence, develop skills and gain a better understanding of the career opportunities available to them.

The mission forms part of wider changes designed to strengthen the connection between education and employment, with employers, local authorities, schools and Careers Hubs all expected to play a role in creating more high-quality opportunities for young people.

However, we understand that connecting with schools to offer experiences of the workplace or careers education opportunities isn’t always straightforward. That’s where EBP Connect comes in. This innovative new platform, designed by the EBP Team, will enable employers to showcase the support they can offer, discover where schools need help and receive requests directly from schools, all in one place.

Whether you can offer work experience, workplace visits, careers talks or other activities, EBP Connect will provide a new way to pledge your support and connect with Somerset’s schools and young people.
