Bridgwater Health and Social Supported Internship
Who for: Young people aged 18-25 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) who may need support to transition into employment and with an interest in experiencing work in a hospital or at a care provider
Purpose: To develop independence skills and support transition into paid employment.
What: A full-time year-long programme comprising:
Structured Work Placement: Work in different departments across a busy hospital, care provider, and other settings. Examples of work placements can include:
- Administration
- Catering
- Portering
- Clinical support roles (non-medical)
Continuous Support: from dedicated staff throughout the programme
On-Site Lessons at College: Including English, Maths, employability skills, and tutorials
Assessment: is ongoing and includes portfolio work and practical observations
